Formula and method
Risers = ceil(total rise/specified maximum riser). Equal rise = total rise/risers. Treads below the upper landing = risers − 1.
Worked example
A total rise of 2,800 mm with a specified maximum riser of 190 mm needs 15 risers at about 186.67 mm. Fourteen 250 mm goings produce a 3,500 mm run.
