A full straight circular bore of constant diameter. Use actual internal diameter rather than nominal pipe size or outside diameter. Fittings and partial filling are excluded.

How this was calculated

Radius in meters = internal diameter in mm ÷ 2,000.

Capacity = πr² × length.

Formula and method

Volume = πr²L, with radius and length in meters. For diameter in mm, radius in meters is diameter/2,000.

Worked example

A 50 mm internal diameter over 10 m holds approximately 19.635 L when full.

Frequently asked questions

Should I enter nominal pipe size?

Use the actual internal diameter. Nominal size and outside diameter are not the same as the water-carrying bore.
