Total fuel cost

60

  • Fuel needed40 L
  • Cost per person60

How this was calculated

Fuel used = distance × L/100 km ÷ 100; cost = liters × price per liter.

Trip estimates do not include tolls, parking or vehicle maintenance.

Method

Liters needed = kilometers × L/100 km ÷ 100. Total cost = liters × price per liter; divide by travelers to split the cost.

Worked example

A 500 km trip at 8 L/100 km needs 40 L. At 1.50 currency units per liter, fuel costs 60.00, or 15.00 each for four travelers.

Assumptions and limits

Use the same currency throughout. A gallon price must be converted to a liter price. Estimate the full travel distance, including the return leg if applicable; tolls and maintenance are excluded.
