How to convert kilograms to stone
st = x × 0.1574730444177697
One stone is exactly 14 pounds. Results are decimal stone; multiply the fractional stone by 14 for the remaining pounds.
Worked example
st = 70 × 0.1574730444177697
70 kg = 11.023113 st.
Where stone is used
Stone is used mainly in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and almost only for body weight, which is usually given as stone and pounds (for example 11 st 0 lb). Food, luggage and medical dosing in those countries use kilograms, and the United States does not use stone at all.
A converter that returns decimal stone is easy to misread: 11.5 st is 11 st 7 lb, not 11 st 5 lb. The stone-and-pounds column below avoids that mistake.
Body weights in stone and pounds
Decimal stone and the stone-and-pounds form people usually quote, for adult body weights from 50 to 120 kg.

|---|---|---|
| 50 | 7.874 | 7 st 12.2 lb |
| 60 | 9.448 | 9 st 6.3 lb |
| 65 | 10.236 | 10 st 3.3 lb |
| 70 | 11.023 | 11 st 0.3 lb |
| 75 | 11.810 | 11 st 11.3 lb |
| 80 | 12.598 | 12 st 8.4 lb |
| 90 | 14.173 | 14 st 2.4 lb |
| 100 | 15.747 | 15 st 10.5 lb |
| 110 | 17.322 | 17 st 4.5 lb |
| 120 | 18.897 | 18 st 12.6 lb |
Precision and quick estimates
One stone is exactly 14 lb, or 6.35029318 kg, so 1 kg is 0.1574730444177697 st.
Dividing kilograms by 6.35 is accurate to 0.0046%. Quoting a weight to the nearest whole pound, as stone-and-pounds usually is, rounds by up to half a pound (0.23 kg) either way.

Unit definitions and sources
These units measure mass, not force. Metric tonnes, US short tons, UK long tons and troy ounces have distinct definitions.

Precision of weight and mass conversions
These 2 weight and mass units convert through Kilogram (kg). 2 have an exact defined relationship to the base unit and 0 are conventional or measured values. Results and the tables on this page come from the same engine, so a table value can be checked against the converter directly.
Standard display shows up to six decimal places, switching to scientific notation for very large or small values. Calculation uses JavaScript binary floating point independently of display rounding, so extra digits are not a claim about measurement accuracy. Each unit lists its own source; a citation records where the definition comes from, not an independent review. See Conversion methodology for the review and correction process.
