Where your note is kept

By default the note lives only in this page's memory. Reloading or closing the tab discards it, so download it as a .txt file to keep it.

Turn on Save in this browser to keep the note in your browser's local storage on this device. It is restored the next time you open the notepad in the same browser profile. Turning the option off deletes the saved copy. Anyone who uses the same browser profile can read it, and clearing site data removes it.

Nothing you type is sent to Calxy or any other server, and the note is never added to share links.

Counts and download

Words, characters, characters without spaces, lines and paragraphs update as you type. Characters are counted as visible characters, so an emoji counts once.

The size shown is the note encoded as UTF-8, which is exactly the size of the downloaded .txt file. Notes can be up to 100,000 characters.

Are my notes private?

Yes. The text never leaves your device. If you turn on Save in this browser it is stored locally in this browser only, where anyone with access to the same browser profile could read it.

Will my note be there when I come back?

Only if you turned on Save in this browser, and only in the same browser on the same device. Otherwise download it as a .txt file before closing the page.

Can I format text?

No. This is a plain-text notepad, so what you download opens in any text editor. For counting limits such as tweets or meta descriptions, the character counter has more options.
