Flat-rate commission on eligible sales, before payroll taxes. Tiered rates, returns, caps, and clawbacks are not included. Use sales and base pay from the same period.
How this was calculated
Commission = 10,000 × 5 ÷ 100 = 500.
Your share = 500 × 100 ÷ 100 = 500.
Total pay = 2,000 + 500 = 2,500.
Commission on eligible sales
A flat-rate commission equals eligible sales multiplied by the commission percentage divided by 100. Eligible sales are the amount your agreement counts, which may differ from headline revenue.
For 10,000 in eligible sales at 5%, the commission is 500. If your base pay for that same period is 2,000 and you keep the full commission, your combined pay before tax is 2,500.
Reverse a commission target
To find required sales, divide the commission goal by the rate as a decimal. A 600 commission goal at 4% requires 15,000 in eligible sales. A zero rate cannot determine a unique sales target.
To find the rate, divide commission by eligible sales and multiply by 100. The goal is the commission before a split; base pay is separate and is not included in the commission goal.
Split commissions and pay periods
Your commission equals the full commission times your share percentage. If the full commission is 500 and your share is 60%, you receive 300. Adding 2,000 in base pay gives 2,300 before taxes.
Use matching periods for sales and base pay. This flat-rate model does not apply tier thresholds, returns, chargebacks, caps, draws, payroll deductions or contractual eligibility rules.

Frequently asked questions
Does my target include base pay?
No. The commission amount is before the split and excludes base pay. Base pay is added to your share only when showing combined pay.
Can I calculate a tiered commission?
This calculator uses one flat rate. A tiered plan needs separate treatment of the sales in each tier and may produce a different result.
